Catching Up

I realize I've been slacking off this month. So here's what's been going on...

June 10 through June 15 we went to Folly Beach. Thanks for another great week, Uncle Johnny! This year we had a big crowd. Not everyone stayed the whole time, but here's who was there: Aunt Linda, Fran, Michael, Allison, Sandra, Melanie, Margaret, Melissa, Elliott, Olivia, Greg, Anitra, Abby, Kathy, Mom, Dave and me. Amazingly we never felt crowded either. Uncle Johnny's house has 2 big screened porches and a big deck so there's plenty of room to spread out. The weather was great: cool, breezy, and sunny for the most part. I've decided June is a great time to go to the beach because the temperature and humidity haven't topped out yet.
We enjoyed tasty seafood at The Crab Shack and Bowen's Island. All the little girls had a big time playing with each other and the "grown-ups" had fun watching them play together. Our family has been going to Folly for like 27 years when Fran and I were just toddlers and Melissa has been going with me since we were about 9. So its really meaningful to now see Allison and Olivia making the same great memories there. Cards were played, food was devoured, sun was basked in, and all in all a great time was had. Strange, but I didn't take but like 3 pictures all week. I don't know what I was thinking.

Last weekend Rebecca, Amy, Melissa and I went out to celebrate Rebecca's 30th birthday. This was a big deal for these three girls to have babysitters and have more than 5 minutes to eat a meal! We had a great time eating at Wild Wing Cafe and then we just took our time walking around the Village at Sandhill. The night was topped off with some delicious ice cream from Marble Slab. Hopefully we will be able to have these little girls' nights out more often. It really was a special treat to be able to visit and catch up with the girls. When we're together it feels like no time has passed at all and we all agreed that we cannot possibly be 30 years old! Well, Amy actually has a little longer until her big day.

Other than that, we've just been tending the garden (I picked about 20 tomatoes today!), watching movies, and staying out of the heat and away from mosquitoes whenever possible. Dave completed his classes through work this week after about 9 months so he's thrilled to finally have his "weekends" back to himself. I say "weekend" because although he's actually off of work from Monday through Friday, he still considers that his weekend.

And Happy 1st Birthday to Abby! Dave and I joined Abby and her mom and dad, Anitra and Greg, and her grandparents, Tommy and Karon, for dinner to celebrate this past week. It sure doesn't feel like it's been a whole year since about 32 of us stood around the nursery window at Baptist Hospital trying to catch a glimpse of sweet Abby!

So, Allan McDonald, I hope you're happy! I've now updated my blog so that you don't have to keep reading "the same old thing." :)
