Before & After

Who doesn't love Before & After pictures??? I do!

For about 4 years now I have been wanting a Scunci Steamer. Melanie and Melissa both used one that Melanie got with great results and they both loved it. I always wanted to borrow it, but it got lost somewhere along the way. But I decided that one day I would get one.

When I moved into this house 6 years ago, there were certain things that I thought needed to be cleaner but the usual elbow grease and bleach, Comet, etc. just didn't do the trick . The bathtub, for example, is an old enamel covered cast iron deal. At some point through the years someone had used one of those suction-footed non-slip mats in the tub and it left very noticeable stains. I had never been able remove the stains with any amount of scrubbing or bleaching. And the shower stall in the other bathroom is fiberglass. It was pretty new when I moved in, but over the past couple of years it has gotten more and more stained. It looks like I don't even attempt to clean the thing, but again no amount of bleaching or scrubbing would remove the stains. These two things alone increased my desire for a steamer.

Well, a few months ago Dave and I decided to "update" the bathrooms in the house and I declared that I would get my steamer finally. I wanted to get rid of all those stubborn stains to increase the marketability of our house. Most people would rather move into a house that doesn't need much work and looks fresh, clean and stain-free.

So about two weeks ago, Dave bought me the steamer! I was so excited to try it out when it came. I gave it a short test run to make sure it worked properly but then decided to wait until the weekend to really get steaming. Steam cleaning the tub and shower have been on my to-do list for months and today I finally got a chance to complete that project!

I am very impressed with cleaning ability of steam! I did still have to use Comet and a hand-held scrub brush to get things totally clean, but the steam loosened the dirt & grime and made the removal of said nastiness possible! Check out the before & after shots of the shower stall!

Before steaming (I told you it looked gross)

After steaming

Wow! I didn't get a great shot of the tub project because all the steam kept fogging up the camera lenses, but the results were equally impressive! I'm not saying they are 100% brand new looking, but the improvement is indisputable!

Surprisingly, this steamer got mixed reviews on Amazon. Lots of people were totally unimpressed or said their steamer didn't work properly. I think many of these may have been cases of OPERATOR ERROR. Or maybe these people were expecting miracles without having to use a little elbow grease. I am looking for excuses to use ours because it works so well.

Melanie,
I might let you borrow it...if you promise not to lose mine, too! LOL! Sorry the wallpaper has turned into such a fiasco.
