Happy Mother's Day!

So today is Mother's Day. I am thankful that I live close enough to my mom to have been able to drive home this morning, go to church, and take Mom out to lunch. Today is also the one year anniversary of when I brought Taffy home. I tried not to make her feel to guilty for not getting me anything.
If you are like me you know a few people that feel that Mother's Day is just another "Hallmark holiday." I certainly don't feel that way. On the contrary. I, for one, believe that mothers and fathers should be honored far more often than one day each year. As for the naysayers, please tell me what is more worthy of a holiday than a day honoring all that our parents have done for us, given us, taught us, and sacrificed for us?
For those of us who are lucky enough to still have our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and other mother-figures here on earth with us, we should take more time that just one day to show our love and appreciation. So, Mom, I pledge to you that this year I will tell you and show you more often how important you are in my life.
